While we understand that parents, guardians, and family members may assist students with tuition and fees, please be advised that all student account information is protected under FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act). As such, the Business Office is legally prohibited from discussing or disclosing private student account information to anyone who does not have explicit FERPA permissions from the student.
What is FERPA?
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that affords parents the right to have access to their children’s education records, the right to seek to have the records amended, and the right to have some control over the disclosure of personally identifiable information from the education records. When a student turns 18 years old, or enters a postsecondary institution at any age, the rights under FERPA transfer from the parents to the student (“eligible student”). How can I grant FERPA permissions?
Students can grant FERPA permissions to parents, guardians, and family members by contacting the Records and Registration Office. Please reach out to them by submitting a ticket via their support portal: Support : Harrisburg University Records & Registration.
